Responsible Gaming

This page sets out practical advice for gambling more safely and explains what this site can and cannot do to support that. It does not manage any account and cannot switch on any control for you.

Before You Start

Deciding an amount before you begin, and treating it as already spent, removes the pressure of tracking a running loss while you play. Once that figure is gone, stopping is a simple decision rather than a negotiation with yourself. Chasing a loss by raising the amount to win it back is how a planned, limited session turns into an unplanned one, so the decision to stop should not change once play has started.

Money that is borrowed, or set aside for bills, rent or anything else necessary, should never be the money used to gamble. Keeping gambling funds separate from everyday finances means a loss stays a loss, with no knock-on effect on the rest of your life. Taking breaks during a session, and stepping away entirely for a while afterwards, gives you a chance to notice whether the activity is still entertainment or has become something else.

When To Involve Someone Else

It helps to talk to someone before gambling stops feeling like entertainment, not after. Signs worth acting on early include:

  • Spending more time or money on it than you planned, repeatedly
  • Feeling you need to win back a loss before you can stop
  • Hiding the amount you spend or play from people close to you
  • Using gambling to cope with stress, boredom or a bad mood

A friend, family member or one of the organisations linked on this page can offer a perspective you cannot get on your own, and reaching out early is easier than reaching out once the situation has grown.

Where The Controls Actually Are

Controls such as deposit caps, loss caps, reality checks, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion belong to an account held with an operator. This site has no account, no form and no server-side application anywhere in its build, so nothing published here can switch one of those controls on, check its status or enforce it. If you want any of them, they are arranged at the destination you reach after following an operator link, inside the account you hold there.

Every operator listing on this site ends with the same line: check availability and the current terms at the destination before claiming anything, because eligibility rules and terms apply there and can change without notice. That destination is also where age is verified — nobody's age is checked on this site, and no gambling takes place here. The eighteen-and-over restriction is repeated throughout this build, including on the front page and at the end of every operator listing, but the check itself happens only after you leave.

Independent Help

Every page of this site, including this one, carries links to three independent gambling-help organisations: begambleaware.org, gamblingtherapy.org and gamcare.org.uk. These are the only outbound links on the site that are not commercial: they carry no sponsored marking, they are set to nofollow, and they open in a separate tab on the organisation's own site. This site receives nothing when a reader follows one of them, and no advertising or behavioural profiling network runs on these pages, so nothing here is targeted at a reader based on how they have behaved.
